Description
A good storage space inside and a large surface area on top gives this vintage steamer trunk a lot of versatility. A lovely piece to have in your home straight from the golden age of travel.
True steamer trunks are low profile they were brought "On Voyage" into the ships cabin and were limited to size. Any trunk larger than roughly 91 x 66 x 35cm is NOT a steamer trunk - It would be a travel trunk that was stored in the ships hold during the trip - "Not Wanted on Voyage" or "Hold" labels were placed on these types of trunks.
Dimensions: 91 x 51 x 32cm - (Approx)
CONDITION: The external condition of this trunk is good, with age related wear on the corners and bottom. The leather handles on the both ends have seen some wear over the years - when these trunks were stood for loading The paper lining has a small amount of wear & tear, however it is clean & dry internally.
The wooden banding is complete and off the catches work. The lock has a working key. Some age related scuffs and dings, but no major issues.
